This is an intricately designed handmade Mithila post/ greeting card. These bright, beautiful and colourful cards can be a beautiful present to a loved one or a keepsake to yourself.

Mithila (also known as Madhubani) painting style originated from Nepal and the Bihar state of India. The women of the villages practised these paintings on the walls of their respective home. Their paintings often illustrated their thoughts, hopes and dreams.

Note: Since Mithila Art is a handmade art, no two products are exactly the same, regardless of the fact that they’re made using the same process. These product variants define the different types of designs in Mithila Art.

  • The themes used in this art often revolve around Hindu deities like Krishna, Rama, Lakshmi, Shiva, Durga and Saraswati.
  • One can also find paintings based on the scenes from the royal courts and social events like weddings.
  • These paintings are also known for their simplicity, for the brush and colours used are often derived from natural sources.
  • While the paintings are largely made using powdered rice, colours derived from turmeric, pollen, pigments, indigo, various flowers, sandalwood, and leaves of various plants and trees, etc.
  • The colours are often prepared by the artists themselves.
